Domestic Violence within LGQBT Community Domestic violence LGBTQ is a severe problem in the lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgender community. The percentage of LGBT people who experience violent or threatening relationships with their same-sex partners or ex-partners is about 25%, which is about the same as the percentage of heterosexual women who experience domestic abuse. The issue is underreported, similar to opposite-gendered relationships. People who get abused frequently by their same-gender partner feel afraid of coming out about their sexual orientation or the nature of their relationship.
